accCompressPhysStatUnCompOuts

Module: ACC-MIB

OID (symbolic): ACC-MIB::accCompressPhysStatUnCompOuts

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.6.7.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description:

The total number of uncompressed packets presented for compression which could not be compressed (i.e., the packet expanded). These packets are transmitted in their uncompressed form.

What is accCompressPhysStatUnCompOuts?

This counter records the number of packets the local compressor attempted to compress but that actually expanded (got larger), so they were sent uncompressed instead to avoid wasting bandwidth. Engineers watch this metric to identify if compression settings are poorly tuned for the current traffic patterns. A value of 50 means 50 packets would have grown larger if compressed, so they were transmitted uncompressed.
