Module: ACC-MIB

OID (symbolic): ACC-MIB::accAtPortStatsHopCounts

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.28.8.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: The number of DDP packets received which were discarded because the hop count had exceeded the maximum value.

What is accAtPortStatsHopCounts?

This counter tracks DDP packets discarded because they exceeded the maximum hop count limit (usually 15), preventing infinite loops in the network. An engineer monitors this to detect routing loops or excessively long paths that are rejecting legitimate traffic. A sudden spike to 500 such dropped packets might indicate a routing loop was created by a network topology change.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.28.8.1.11
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ACC-MIB::accAtPortStatsHopCounts

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.28.8.1.11.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ACC-MIB::accAtPortStatsHopCounts.1
