This 32-bit integer (0 to 1,073,741,823) provides the second value for metric transformation operations, such as the multiplier in a scaling calculation. When set to zero, default formulas apply for each protocol; non-zero values override them for custom metric weighting. A value of 2048 might mean double the OSPF metric before RIP ingests it.
