What is ipRouteNewGateways?

This counter increments when ICMP Redirects cause the device to modify existing routes by changing their next-hop gateway. Engineers use this to audit path changes triggered by network topology shifts. If new gateways are constantly being updated, it may indicate instability or an attacker injecting redirects.
