Description: The number of packets with an IP version other than 4.
What is ipBadVersions?
This counter counts IP packets with version fields other than 4 (IPv6 arriving on IPv4-only paths, bit errors, etc.). Network engineers check this to detect IPv6 leakage, multicast headers misidentified as IP, or corruption. A non-zero value usually signals either intentional IPv6 cross-talk or a serious link-layer problem.
