Description: This variable defines and provides information on the Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) mode of an EPON device as defined by the [802.3ah] clause 57. When noOam(1) the device does not supports the OAM mode. When oamServer(2) the device supports the OAM mode as a server unit. When oamClient(3) the device supports the OAM mode as a client unit. Writing can be done during initialization, h3cEponDeviceObjectDeviceReadyMode is in notReady(1) or inProcess(2). This attribute is relevant for an OLT and an ONU.

What is h3cEponDeviceObjectOamMode?

This read-write OID specifies the OAM (Operation, Administration, Maintenance) capability—whether disabled, operating as OAM server, or OAM client. OAM is vital for link diagnostics, fault detection, and remote management in passive optical networks. Setting it to 2 (server) on the OLT and 3 (client) on ONUs enables end-to-end network monitoring.
