This OID enables or disables Short Guard Interval (SGI) mode, which reduces the inter-frame gap from 800ns to 400ns. Engineers enable it to increase data rates by approximately 11% on 802.11n radios at the cost of reduced noise tolerance. When true(1), SGI allows higher throughput but may reduce range in interference-prone environments.
