Upgrading IPNetwork Monitor to latest version

How shall I perform upgrading IPNetwork to last available versions? Q: A new major version of IPNetwork Monitor is available. What shall I do to upgrade to it as seamlessly as possible? A: In general, to upgrade to new IPNetwork version, you only need to download new version, run (as Administrator) and follow on-screen instructions (as you could do earlier, when upgrading your previous versions). Note that we strongly recommend making backup of your current monitoring database files before performing any upgrade. Important: when IPNetwork is upgraded, all user changes (files modified, added) below IPNetwork installation directory can be lost. Before upgrading, make sure you backed up all the changes applied (most probably in conf/ and htdocs/ folders), otherwise you risk losing them. Prior to upgrading, please take notice of IPNetwork version and build you’re currently using by clicking “Help -> About IPNetwork Monitor…” in IPNetwork Monitor GUI client. Depending on what you see, please take our recommendations below.

Notice on performing upgrade

Although it might work in certain cases, do not attempt to upgrade your installation by replacing setup-generated monitoring database file with the one from older IPNetwork installation. That can result in upgrade error. Perform the upgrade by running IPNetwork installer on the system where older IPNetwork version is installed. In case of big monitoring setups (more than a few hundred monitors) we also recommend to stop IPNetwork monitoring service and make sure fbserver.exe process is not running before commencing upgrade.

Common instructions and notes

Upgrade is self-explanatory process; you will be given all the required information as it progresses. If you’re using Remote Network Agent(s), upgrade them to the version matching your IPNetwork version. Should you have any problems with upgrade don’t hesitate to contact technical support.
