What IPNetwork Monitor license(s) should be bought to perform a remote Windows server monitoring?
Q: Can you help me to choose what license and monitors type shall I use to monitor my Windows servers?
A: If computer or other network device is to be monitored remotely, you should estimate the actual monitors list and determine what monitors type are required to cover all the monitoring tasks.
First determine the amount of servers to monitor, count all the services to supervise. For every type of service running on a server add at least one more monitor (for PING and/or TCP monitor checking general availability).
Next, check whether the IPNetwork Monitor installation can reach all the Windows servers to track, all the pieces of hardware and other remote devices subject to monitoring. If some those are located in isolated network segments, consider purchasing the required number of Remote Network Agent licenses, one per every segment. That would allow to watch the resources without adding port forwarding rules to firewalls or otherwise jeopardizing security.
