Hubs

Hub is a simple network device, broadcasting all the packets received — sending them to all the devices connected to it. Thus, numerous collisions occur; devices connected to a hub make a network segment; due to the number of collisions, there are certain limitations on a number of hubs in the network. Hubs rarely provide any type of control and/or monitoring interface; they can be viewed as a cheap replacement for network switches; the more complicated a network is, the more ‘noise’ generate hubs. Traffic analysis can easily demonstrate that it is very easy to fill most of available bandwidth.
