Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enables monitoring of virtually any server, workstation, or network device. SNMP monitoring offers a standard method for tracking network usage patterns by observing router and switch ports. Additional parameters, such as disk space or device processor utilization, are also accessible via SNMP monitoring. SNMP Variables and MIB Browser Utility

SNMP monitoring software allows you to manage any Unix/Linux device, network appliance (typically running a Unix-like OS), and Windows systems. Performance metrics of various server applications (e.g., databases, mail servers) can also be monitored using SNMP. IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor any SNMP variable using all SNMP versions (v1/v2c/v3). A built-in MIB browser allows selection of variables to monitor, displaying supported variables, current values, and descriptions derived from MIBs. You can also locate and import device and application-specific MIBs to monitor specific performance parameters for your servers, applications, and network devices.

Pre-configured SNMP Monitors for Hardware/OS Resources

To get started quickly, utilize the following hardware/OS resource monitors for any host with an SNMP agent. These monitors collect data via the SNMP protocol. This data is provided by a standard SNMP agent and requires no further host configuration.

• SNMP Memory Usage Monitor (total/physical/swap);
• SNMP CPU Usage Monitor (total/user/system time, etc.);
• SNMP Process Monitor (process count, memory and CPU usage);
• SNMP Disk Space Monitor (free/used space);
