zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit

Module: ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB::zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Set this field to limit the number of (dynamic) MAC addresses that may be learned on a port in a specified VLAN. For example, if you set this field to 5 on port 2 in VLAN 3, then only the devices with these five learned MAC addresses may access port 2 in VLAN 3 at any one time. A sixth device would have to wait until one of the five learned MAC addresses aged out.

What is zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit?

This integer sets the maximum number of dynamically learned MAC addresses allowed on a specific port within a specific VLAN, giving finer-grained control than the plain per-port MAC limit. It lets an admin apply different device-count caps to different VLANs sharing the same physical port, such as a trunk carrying both a guest and a corporate VLAN. For example, setting this to 5 on port 2 in VLAN 3 means a sixth device in that VLAN on that port must wait for one of the five learned addresses to age out, per the MIB's own example.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.5.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB::zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.5.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB::zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.5.1.3.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> zyPortSecurityVMLMacLimit.1
