zyPortSecurityPortMacLimit

Module: ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB::zyPortSecurityPortMacLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Set this field to limit the number of (dynamic) MAC addresses that may be learned on a port. For example, if you set this field to 5 on port 2, then only the devices with these five learned MAC addresses may access port 2 at any one time. A sixth device must wait until one of the five learned MAC addresses ages out.

What is zyPortSecurityPortMacLimit?

This integer caps how many dynamically learned MAC addresses are allowed on a given port at one time. It lets an admin bound how many distinct end devices can simultaneously use a port, which is useful for limiting a jack behind a small unmanaged hub or shared workstation area. For example, setting this to 5 on port 2 means a sixth device's traffic is blocked until one of the five learned addresses ages out, per the MIB's own example.
