zyPortSecurityPortLearnState

Module: ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZYXEL-PORT-SECURITY-MIB::zyPortSecurityPortLearnState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.66.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: EnabledStatus

Access: read-write

Description: Enable/Disable MAC address learning on the specified port. MAC address learning reduces outgoing broadcast traffic. For MAC address learning to occur on a port, the port itself must be active with address learning enabled.

What is zyPortSecurityPortLearnState?

This value enables or disables dynamic MAC address learning on a specific port, which affects how much broadcast traffic the switch generates by controlling whether unknown source MACs get added to the forwarding table. Address learning must be enabled, and the port itself active, for any dynamic learning to occur at all on that port. An admin might disable learning on an uplink port that already has all its expected MACs statically configured, to prevent unexpected devices from being learned there.
