Description: Enable/disable L2PT (Layer 2 protocol tunneling) feature on the switch. L2PT is used on the service provider's edge devices. L2PT allows edge switches to tunnel layer 2 STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) and VTP (VLAN Trunking Protocol) packets between customer switches connected through the service provider's network. The edge switch encapsulates layer 2 protocol packets with a specific MAC address before sending them across the service provider's network to other edge switches.
What is zyL2ptState?
This read-write EnabledStatus value enables or disables Layer 2 Protocol Tunneling (L2PT) on the switch, a feature used at a service provider's network edge to tunnel customer STP, CDP, and VTP packets between customer sites across the provider's network by encapsulating them with a specific MAC address. Admins enable this on edge switches that need to transparently carry customer Layer 2 control protocols across the provider backbone. For example, an admin enables this on a provider edge switch so a customer's STP topology remains consistent across two sites connected through the provider's network.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.39.1.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ZYXEL-L2PT-MIB::zyL2ptState
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.39.1.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ZYXEL-L2PT-MIB::zyL2ptState.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.39.1.1.1 s <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> zyL2ptState.1
