This object is the Intrusion Prevention Service counterpart to the antivirus status object, reporting that subscription's signature version and last update time. An admin monitors it the same way, to ensure the appliance's intrusion-prevention signatures have not gone stale, which would leave the network exposed to newer known attack patterns. For example, a stale-looking timestamp weeks old here while the antivirus object shows recent updates would point to a specific IPS licensing or subscription problem worth investigating.
