Module: UCD-SNMP-MIB

OID (symbolic): UCD-SNMP-MIB::ucdShutdown

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.251.2

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

This trap is sent when the agent terminates

What is ucdShutdown?

This SNMP trap is generated by the Net-SNMP agent when the agent process is about to terminate, either due to a graceful shutdown command or system reboot. It allows monitoring systems to detect and respond to agent unavailability. An operator managing distributed monitoring systems would configure trap receivers to handle this notification and alert staff that the monitored host is going offline.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' UCD-SNMP-MIB::ucdShutdown
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.251.2

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:63661->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (113917613) 13 days, 4:26:16.13
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: UCD-SNMP-MIB::ucdShutdown
