dlmodStatus

Module: UCD-DLMOD-MIB

OID (symbolic): UCD-DLMOD-MIB::dlmodStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.14.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The current status of the loaded module.

What is dlmodStatus?

This read-write enumerated object both reports and controls the state of a dynamically loaded MIB module, with values loaded(1), unloaded(2), error(3), load(4), unload(5), create(6), and delete(7). Admins set this to load(4) or unload(5) to trigger the agent to actually load or unload the module named in dlmodName from the path in dlmodPath, and read it afterward to confirm it transitioned to loaded(1) rather than error(3). For example, after setting dlmodName and dlmodPath for a new module, an admin would set this object to load(4) and then re-read it to verify it now shows loaded(1) rather than error(3).

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.14.2.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> UCD-DLMOD-MIB::dlmodStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.14.2.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> UCD-DLMOD-MIB::dlmodStatus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.14.2.1.5.1 i <value>

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Net-SNMP agent host as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type dlmodStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The current status of the loaded module. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'loaded', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
