tpSwitchDesignatedUnit

Module: TPLINK-STACK-MIB

OID (symbolic): TPLINK-STACK-MIB::tpSwitchDesignatedUnit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11863.6.34.1.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object contains the preferred unit number for the switch. auto: When this option is selected, the device will be assigned a free unit number automatically. unit-x: When this option is selected, the device will try to obtain unit-x first,treated as auto when it is not available to obtain a preffered unit number.

What is tpSwitchDesignatedUnit?

This read-write object sets the preferred unit number a switch should try to obtain within the stack, or auto(-1) to let the stack assign a free number automatically. If a specific unit-x is requested but already taken by another member, the switch falls back to automatic assignment rather than failing to join. For example, an admin who wants a particular switch to always come up as unit-1 for consistent cabling labels would set tpSwitchDesignatedUnit to unit-1(1) on that device.
