Description: AES encryption/decryption algorithm can be implemented in five modes. The modes may be used in conjunction with any symmetric key block cipher algorithm that is approved by a Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS). The five modes are: - Electronic Codebook (ECB) - Cipher Block Chaining (CBC) - Cipher Feedback (CFB), - Output Feedback (OFB), - and Counter (CTR) Agents can accept only a subset of AES modes.

What is rdEncryptAlgoMode?

This object chooses among five AES block cipher modes of operation for this radio link: Electronic Codebook, Cipher Block Chaining, Cipher Feedback, Output Feedback, or Counter, though a given agent may only support a subset of them. An admin selects the mode based on the desired security and performance characteristics, since modes like ECB are weaker than CBC or CTR against pattern analysis. The MIB's default is aesModeCounter(5), a common choice for high-throughput stream-like encryption on microwave links.
