s5EnRedPortRemFltSelectMode

Module: S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB

OID (symbolic): S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB::s5EnRedPortRemFltSelectMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.6.1.2.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This mode specifies the set of local fault events which will cause a switchover. The values are: synoptics(1)..The SynOptics Tx Remote Fault events consist of auto-partition and NM (network management) partition events in addition to the standard events. standard(2)...The standard events are link-off for all ports, and low light, jabber, Rx invalid idle, Tx dark, and Tx remote fault (for diagnostics) for ports with transmit remote fault capability.

What is s5EnRedPortRemFltSelectMode?

This read-write object selects which set of local fault conditions will trigger a switchover on this port: synoptics adds SynOptics-specific auto-partition and network-management partition events on top of the standard set, while standard uses only link-off, low light, jabber, and similar baseline events. An admin sets this to synoptics when the redundant hardware supports SynOptics proprietary remote-fault signaling and they want the extra fault conditions recognized, or standard for baseline fault detection. This choice directly affects how sensitive the automatic redundancy switchover is to marginal link conditions.
