s5EnRedPortOperStatus

Module: S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB

OID (symbolic): S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB::s5EnRedPortOperStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.6.1.2.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The redundancy status of the port. The values are: other(1).............none of the following. ok(2)...................no fault localFault(3)....the local port has sensed a fault condition. remoteFault(4)...the remote port has sensed a fault condition and has signaled the local port accordingly.

Either a localFault(3) or remoteFault(4) condition should cause a healthy redundant port pair to switchover. If the port does not belong to a redundant pair, a value of other(1) is returned.

Note: If the redundant link consists of ports without remote fault capability, the value remoteFault(4) will not be reported and the value localFault(3) implies that link is off.

What is s5EnRedPortOperStatus?

This object reports whether the redundant port pair has a fault: ok means no fault, localFault means this port detected a problem locally, remoteFault means the remote end signaled a fault to this port, and other applies when the port isn't in a redundant pair at all. Either fault condition is expected to trigger an automatic switchover in a healthy redundant pair, so admins monitor this to catch degraded links before they cause an outage. On links without remote-fault signaling capability, only localFault will ever be reported, and it then implies the link itself is off.
