s5EnRedPortCapability

Module: S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB

OID (symbolic): S5-ETH-REDUNDANT-LINKS-MIB::s5EnRedPortCapability

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.6.1.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The redundancy capability of the port: hwRedOnly(1).....hardware redundancy only. swRedOnly(2).....software redundacy only. hwAndSwRed(3)....both hardware and software redundancy.

A value of hwRedOnly(1) or hwAndSwRed(3) means that the port is capable of being configured into a hardware-redundant pair. In this case, the identity of the potential redundant companion is given by the objects s5EnRedPortCompanionBrdNum and s5EnRedPortCompanionPortNum.

A value of swRedOnly(2) or hwAndSwRed(3) means that the port is capable of being configured into a software-redundant pair.

What is s5EnRedPortCapability?

This object reports what kind of redundancy a port supports: hwRedOnly for hardware redundancy only, swRedOnly for software redundancy only, or hwAndSwRed for both. An admin checks this before attempting to configure a redundant pair, since hardware-redundant pairing (identified via s5EnRedPortCompanionBrdNum/PortNum) is only possible if the value is hwRedOnly or hwAndSwRed. For instance, a port reporting swRedOnly can only be placed into a software-redundant pair, not a hardware one.
