rdnSyslogMaxSize

Module: RDN-SYSLOG-MIB

OID (symbolic): RDN-SYSLOG-MIB::rdnSyslogMaxSize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4981.3.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Description: Maximum size in bytes of the syslog file.

What is rdnSyslogMaxSize?

Sets the maximum allowed size, in bytes, of the device's local syslog file, ranging from 4KB up to 5MB. Admins raise this on devices generating a lot of log traffic so more history is retained locally before older messages are overwritten or logging stops, at the cost of using more local storage. Setting rdnSyslogMaxSize to 1048576 (1MB) on a busy device gives it noticeably more local log retention than the 4KB default.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4981.3.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> RDN-SYSLOG-MIB::rdnSyslogMaxSize

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4981.3.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> RDN-SYSLOG-MIB::rdnSyslogMaxSize.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4981.3.2.1 i <value>
