proxyStorage

Module: PROXY-MIB

OID (symbolic): PROXY-MIB::proxyStorage

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.3.25.17.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-only

Description: The quantity of storage in use by the proxy in KB. This value can be zero if there is no caching occuring.

What is proxyStorage?

The amount of disk storage, in kilobytes, currently used by the proxy's cache; the MIB notes this can legitimately be zero if the proxy isn't caching anything, so a zero value isn't necessarily an error, just a non-caching deployment.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.3.25.17.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PROXY-MIB::proxyStorage

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.3.25.17.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PROXY-MIB::proxyStorage.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> proxyStorage.1

Start monitoring Internet proxy/cache servers, e.g. Squid-based caching proxies with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the PROXY-MIB::proxyStorage OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Internet proxy/cache servers, e.g. Squid-based caching proxies from a single console.
