agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode

Module: PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB

OID (symbolic): PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB::agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.7244.2.20.1.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable is used to enable or disable the sending of new violation traps designating when a packet with a disallowed MAC address is received on a locked port.

What is agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode?

This read-write object enables or disables sending SNMP traps when a packet with a disallowed MAC address is received on this port-security-locked port. Admins enable it to get immediate alerting on unauthorized device attempts, rather than having to periodically poll agentPortSecurityLastDiscardedMAC to discover a violation after the fact. Setting agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode to enable(1) would generate an immediate trap the moment an unrecognized MAC address tries to send traffic on that locked port.
