agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit

Module: PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB

OID (symbolic): PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB::agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.7244.2.20.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: This variable signifies the limit of dynamically locked MAC addresses allowed on a specific port.

What is agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit?

This read-write object sets the maximum number of dynamically learned MAC addresses allowed on this port, ranging from 0 to 600 with a default of 600. Admins lower it on ports expected to serve only a handful of devices, like a single desk or a small IP phone and PC combo, so that exceeding the limit triggers a security violation rather than silently learning an unlimited number of MACs. Setting agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit to 2 on an access port would allow only two dynamically learned MAC addresses, such as a phone and a PC daisy-chained through it, before any additional device triggers a violation.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.7244.2.20.1.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB::agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.7244.2.20.1.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB::agentPortSecurityDynamicLimit.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.7244.2.20.1.2.1.2.1 i <value>
