What is bgpPrefixesVal?
This OID stores a 64-bit counter of the total number of unique IP address blocks (prefixes) that this router knows about via BGP (the routing protocol used on the Internet backbone). When this number changes, it means the routing table has expanded or shrunk, indicating network topology changes. An operator monitors this to detect route hijacks, misconfigurations, or sudden routing table growth that could cause memory issues.
