mitelIpVGrpPortTableCfgMethod

Module: MITEL-IPVIRTUAL-MIB

OID (symbolic): MITEL-IPVIRTUAL-MIB::mitelIpVGrpPortTableCfgMethod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1027.4.8.1.1.4.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Determines how this virtual interface is configured. `static' and `addressless' indicate that all information is provided by the SNMP manager, while `dhcp' and `ipcp' indicate that some or all of the information is obtained dynamically. `static' and `dhcp' interfaces connect to multipoint networks, in which case the mitelIpVGrpPortTableNetMask indicates the IP subnet on that network. `addressless' and `ipcp' interfaces connect to point-to-point networks, and in these cases the mitelIpVGrpPortTableNetMask is set to 255.255.255.255 and the corresponding IP address is that of the system at the other end of the link.

What is mitelIpVGrpPortTableCfgMethod?

A read-write enumeration selecting how this virtual interface obtains its addressing: static or addressless mean the SNMP manager provides all information manually, while dhcp or ipcp mean some or all information is obtained dynamically. Static and dhcp interfaces connect to multipoint networks where the netmask reflects the actual local subnet, while addressless and ipcp interfaces connect to point-to-point links where the netmask is fixed at 255.255.255.255 and the address represents the remote end of the link, so this setting determines how to interpret the paired netmask object. An admin configuring a point-to-point WAN link that negotiates its address via PPP would set this to ipcp(4), after which mitelIpVGrpPortTableNetMask would read 255.255.255.255.
