Description: Indicates the index of a MAC address pool. Range: 0-19, 4294967295 The specific index need not be specified during the creation of a MAC address pool. You can fill in 0xFFFFFFFF(4294967295) as the value of hwIpDslamMacPoolIndex and issue the setting. Then, the system automatically allocates an idle MAC address pool index and returns the index to the NMS.

What is hwIpDslamMacPoolIndex?

This value identifies a specific MAC address pool, normally in the range 0-19, though writing the special value 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF) during creation tells the device to auto-assign an available index and return it to the management station. Admins use this auto-allocation trick to avoid manually tracking which pool indexes are free when provisioning a new pool. For example, setting hwIpDslamMacPoolIndex to 4294967295 when creating a pool lets the system pick and report back an unused index like 3 automatically.
