hwifUnknowncastControl

Module: HUAWEI-ETHERNET-PORT-MIB

OID (symbolic): HUAWEI-ETHERNET-PORT-MIB::hwifUnknowncastControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.14.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description:

What is hwifUnknowncastControl?

This object's source DESCRIPTION is blank, but its name and 5-100 integer range indicate it configures a suppression threshold, likely a percentage of port bandwidth, for unknown unicast/multicast (unknowncast) flooding on the interface. An admin would raise or lower this value to control how much unknown-destination traffic the port is allowed to flood before being throttled, protecting the switch from broadcast-storm-like conditions caused by unlearned destinations. Illustratively, setting it to 20 would cap unknowncast flooding at roughly 20 percent of port capacity.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.14.2.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HUAWEI-ETHERNET-PORT-MIB::hwifUnknowncastControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.14.2.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HUAWEI-ETHERNET-PORT-MIB::hwifUnknowncastControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.14.2.1.1.3.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> hwifUnknowncastControl.1
