hpEMSMonitorRestart

Module: HP-EMS

OID (symbolic): HP-EMS::hpEMSMonitorRestart

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.1.7.0.4

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: The Event Monitoring Service (EMS) has generated an event for a monitored resource. A Monitor Restart Event occurs when EMS detects that a required monitor is no longer running, and restarts the monitor. The list of resources affected by the restart can be retrieved on the source node by running: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -M The data passed with the event: 1) The restart event type, which can be restart or reboot. For an EMSMonitorRestart trap, the restart type is restart. 2) The title of the monitor that is restarted. 3) The command used to restart the monitor. 4) The name of the vendor that provided the monitor. 5) The version of the monitor. 6) The process ID of the restarted monitor process. 7) The monitor key, which may be used with the -M option to the resdata command to return the list of resources being monitored by the restarted monitor. The list of resources can be retrieved on the source node by running: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -M

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' HP-EMS::hpEMSMonitorRestart
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.1.7.0.4

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:60704->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (325960480) 37 days, 17:26:44.80
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: HP-EMS::hpEMSMonitorRestart

SNMPv3 example:

snmptrap -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3user -a SHA -A "AuthPass1" -x AES -X "PrivPass1" <manager> '' HP-EMS::hpEMSMonitorRestart
