h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable

Module: H3C-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB

OID (symbolic): H3C-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.10.2.146.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Enable or disable ARP source suppression function.

What is h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable?

This TruthValue setting turns ARP source suppression on or off, a security feature that limits how many unresolved ARP request packets from a single source the device will process, protecting the CPU and ARP table against ARP-flood style attacks or misbehaving hosts. A network administrator enables this on switches or routers in environments prone to ARP scanning or spoofing attempts, so a single misbehaving or malicious host can't overwhelm the device by generating excessive unresolved ARP traffic. For an H3C device, enabling this feature works together with h3cARPSourceSuppressionLimit, which sets exactly how many such packets per source are tolerated before suppression kicks in.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.10.2.146.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> H3C-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.10.2.146.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> H3C-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.10.2.146.1.1.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> h3cARPSourceSuppressionEnable.1
