syncStatusMsgForceRxSsm

Module: Fore-SSM-MIB

OID (symbolic): Fore-SSM-MIB::syncStatusMsgForceRxSsm

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.21.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SyncStatusMsgType

Access: read-write

Description: This variable is used to force a particual Synchronization Status Message as the receive SSM on this interface. Forcing a receive SSM will cause the interface to ignore the actual SSM being received (i.e., changes to S1 byte.) Setting this variable to SyncStatusMsgType::none will clear any forced SSM.

What is syncStatusMsgForceRxSsm?

This read-write value forces a specific Synchronization Status Message as the received SSM on this interface, causing the interface to ignore the actual SSM in the incoming S1 byte; setting it to none clears any forced value. Admins use this during testing or to work around a misbehaving upstream timing source, by overriding what SSM value this interface reports as received. For example, an admin sets this to force a low-quality SSM value to prevent the switch from selecting this interface's timing as its primary reference during a lab test.
