sonetIdleUnassignedCells

Module: Fore-SONET-MIB

OID (symbolic): Fore-SONET-MIB::sonetIdleUnassignedCells

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.1.1.4.1.1.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable indicates the type of cells that should be sent in case there is no data to send. According to the ATM Forum, Unassigned cells should be sent (octet 1-3 are 0's, octet 4 is 0000xxx0, where x is 'don't care'). According to the CCITT specifications, Idle cells should be sent (everything is '0' except for the CLP bit which is '1'). By default, unassigned cells are transmitted in case there is no data to send.

What is sonetIdleUnassignedCells?

Chooses which filler cell type this port transmits when there's no real data to send: unassigned(1) per the ATM Forum (the default) or idle(2) per CCITT. An admin only changes this from the default when interoperating with equipment that specifically expects CCITT idle cells.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.1.1.4.1.1.1.16
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Fore-SONET-MIB::sonetIdleUnassignedCells

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.1.1.4.1.1.1.16.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Fore-SONET-MIB::sonetIdleUnassignedCells.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.1.1.4.1.1.1.16.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> sonetIdleUnassignedCells.1
