bridgeDataSource

Module: FORE-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): FORE-BRIDGE-MIB::bridgeDataSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.1.8.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies the name of the bridge that is currently visable via SNMP accesses to the Bridge MIB (RFC-1493). If there is no bridge of that name, then accesses to objects in the Bridge MIB will return noSuchName errors. The factory default value for this object is 'default'

What is bridgeDataSource?

This object holds the name, up to 20 characters, of the logical bridge that SNMP accesses to the standard Bridge MIB (RFC-1493) are currently directed at on this FORE ASX switch. An admin uses it to select which of the switch's multiple logical bridges shows up when polling bridgeDot1dBase-style objects, since a name that doesn't match any configured bridge causes noSuchName errors on those bridge MIB reads. For example, the factory default value is the string 'default', and an admin managing several emulated LANs might set it to 'vlan-finance' to inspect that bridge's forwarding table instead.
