This read-write value is a command that, when enabled, converts all currently dynamically-learned MAC addresses on this port into permanent static entries; a GET always reads back disable. An admin uses this to lock in the devices a port has already learned instead of manually re-entering each MAC address as a static entry. For example, after a port has learned three devices dynamically over time, writing enable(1) converts those three into static entries so they survive even if dynamic learning is later disabled.
