swDULDMode

Module: DULD-MIB

OID (symbolic): DULD-MIB::swDULDMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.87.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the mode for unidirectional link detection. shutdown: if any unidirectional link is detected, disable the port and log an event. normal: only log an event when a unidirectional link is detected.

What is swDULDMode?

This value determines how the switch reacts when it detects a unidirectional link fault on a port, either automatically shutting the port down and logging an event, or just logging the event while leaving the port up. An admin chooses shutdown(1) on critical links where a one-way failure risks causing a loop and needs to be immediately isolated, or normal(2) when they'd rather just be alerted and investigate manually before taking the port down. For example, setting this to shutdown(1) on a link that's part of a spanning-tree redundant path would automatically take that port offline the moment a unidirectional fault is detected, preventing a potential loop.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.87.1.1.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DULD-MIB::swDULDMode

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.87.1.1.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DULD-MIB::swDULDMode.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.87.1.1.1.4.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> swDULDMode.1
