swDoSCtrlMirrorRxRate

Module: DOS-PREV-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOS-PREV-MIB::swDoSCtrlMirrorRxRate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.59.1.3.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the rate of reception of DoS attack packets. The valid values are 64 to 1024000. A value of 0 indicates that the rate has no limit. The default value is 0. A valid mirror port must first be specified in order to set this value.

What is swDoSCtrlMirrorRxRate?

This read-write object caps the reception rate, in kbps from 64 to 1024000, at which packets matching this row's DoS attack type are mirrored to the configured mirror port, with 0 (the default) meaning no rate limit. Admins set it to prevent a flood of mirrored attack traffic from overwhelming the analyzer or link connected to the mirror port; a valid mirror port must already be configured for this value to take effect. For example, setting swDoSCtrlMirrorRxRate to 10000 caps mirrored attack traffic for this row at roughly 10 Mbps so the capture device isn't swamped during a large-scale attack.
