swDoSCtrlActionType

Module: DOS-PREV-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOS-PREV-MIB::swDoSCtrlActionType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.59.1.3.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the action for the DoS prevention type. If this object is set to 'mirror' and swDoSCtrlState is set to 'enable', the configuration will not take effect until a valid mirror port is specified. If mirror port is not valid the behavior will be the same as 'drop'

What is swDoSCtrlActionType?

This read-write object sets what the switch does with packets matching the DoS attack type in this table row: drop them outright, or mirror them to a monitoring port. Choosing mirror(2) lets an admin capture suspected attack traffic for analysis, but the mirror action only takes effect once a valid swDoSCtrlMirrorPort is configured; otherwise the switch behaves as if drop(1) were set. For example, an admin investigating repeated smurf-attack hits sets swDoSCtrlActionType to mirror(2) and then configures a mirror port so the flagged packets get copied to a capture port instead of being silently discarded.
