The value 0 signifies that the router is not eligi- ble to become the designated router on this particular network. In the event of a tie in this value, routers will use their Router ID as a tie breaker.

Sets this interface's priority in the OSPF Designated Router election on a multi-access network; a value of 0 makes the router ineligible to become DR or BDR on that network, and ties are broken using Router ID. An administrator raises this value on the router that should preferentially become the segment's Designated Router.
