Description: Controls the activation of a continuous pilot tone. This does not effect the standard tone sent before data (which is controlled by a hardware switch). This value is not stored in NVRAM. Default is disable.

What is stuInbContToneEnable?

This read-write attribute turns a continuous pilot tone on or off, separate from the standard pre-data tone that's controlled by a hardware switch, and it is not stored in NVRAM so it doesn't survive a restart; default is disable. It exists so a field technician with a spectrum analyzer can key up a steady, easy-to-locate tone from a specific STU for RF alignment work at the headend. For example, a technician troubleshooting upstream ingress would enable stuInbContToneEnable temporarily on one STU to visually locate its signal on a spectrum analyzer, knowing it reverts to disabled automatically after the next restart.
