rlRedistMetricValue

Module: CISCOSB-Redistribute

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-Redistribute::rlRedistMetricValue

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.26.27.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: When redistributing from one OSPF process to another OSPF process on the same router, the metric will be carried through from one process to the other if no metric value is specified. When redistributing other processes to an OSPF process, the default metric is 20 when no metric value is specified.

What is rlRedistMetricValue?

This read-write INTEGER sets the metric assigned to redistributed routes, with the description noting OSPF-to-OSPF redistribution normally carries the original metric through unless overridden, while other protocols redistributed into OSPF default to metric 20. Admins care because the metric value determines how attractive the redistributed routes appear relative to natively learned routes. For example, an admin sets this to 5 when redistributing static routes into OSPF, deliberately overriding the default metric of 20 to make those routes less preferred than native OSPF paths.
