Description: Total count of number of VINES broadcast packets not forwarded to all interfaces because the OVER 4800 BPS bit was set.
What is cvTotalNotOver4800Packets?
This counter tracks broadcasts withheld from forwarding because the sender set the over-4800bps, high-speed-only restriction bit. An admin cares on routers with slow WAN links because a rising count confirms the router is correctly protecting low-speed links from unnecessary broadcast traffic rather than dropping packets due to an error. For example, a broadcast tagged high-speed-only gets blocked from reaching a low-bandwidth serial interface and is counted here instead of crossing it.
