What is cvTotalMacEchoOutPackets?
This counter tracks VINES MAC-level Echo packets the router itself has generated, such as replies to received echo requests. An admin cares because it confirms the router is actively responding to link-layer echo tests, useful when diagnosing local segment reachability. For example, this counter incrementing in step with the MAC-echo-in counter confirms the router is answering every MAC echo request it receives.
