Description: Total count of number of VINES MAC level Echo packets received.
What is cvTotalMacEchoInPackets?
This counter tracks VINES Echo packets received at the MAC, or Layer 2, level, used for low-level reachability testing. An admin cares because MAC-level echo activity indicates something on the local segment is running Layer 2 connectivity tests against this router. For example, running a VINES ping utility from a client on the same LAN segment would increment this counter on the router.
