This read-only VinesMetric object reports the expected one-way delay to send a message to a particular VINES neighbor. An admin uses this metric to understand why the router prefers one neighbor path over another when multiple paths exist to the same destination. A neighbor with a noticeably higher metric than an alternate path would normally be used only as a backup rather than the primary forwarding choice.
