This OID specifies which Oakley group (1, 2, 5, 14, etc.) is used for Diffie-Hellman key exchange in IKE Main Mode, determining encryption strength. Engineers monitor this to ensure adequate key material strength; group 14 (2048-bit) is stronger than group 2 (1024-bit). A value of '14' indicates 2048-bit DH is negotiated, providing 112-bit symmetric equivalent security.
