Web server

Web server is hardware and software means providing HTTP-based Internet services. A Web server is responsible for processing clients’ requests to a web site and executing scripts such as CGI, JSP, ASP, and PHP, which in turn execute requests to other applications (such as database servers, e-commerce applications etc). The standard configuration of a Web server can include an HTTP server (requests to web pages), FTP server (loading files through the Internet), NNTP server (access to news groups), and SMTP server (electronic mail).
