Proxy servers act as an intermediate “gateway” between your computer (or network) and the internet. Instead of connecting directly to a website, your traffic goes through the proxy, which can enforce security policies, log activity, filter content, or provide access control. In many organizations, outbound web access must go through a proxy—sometimes with authentication—so monitoring tools need to support proxies to check external sites the same way users do.
Monitoring via proxy servers in IPNetwork Monitor. IPNetwork Monitor’s HTTP/HTTPS monitor supports connecting through a proxy, including proxies that require authentication. On the monitor’s Main tab you can specify the proxy host and port and enter the required proxy credentials. You can also choose the proxy type—HTTP or SOCKS4/SOCKS5—depending on what your network uses. This makes it possible to monitor external websites from within a restricted environment and verify that web resources are reachable through the same proxy path your users rely on.
